Possible Causes
Failed EEPROM on control board, Control board design without memory retention, Power interruptions or brownouts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: Some basic GE models do not retain settings by design. If your model used to remember settings and no longer does, continue below.
Steps:
- Check manual: Confirm whether your specific model is supposed to retain settings after power loss.
- Stabilize power: Plug the unit directly into a wall outlet, avoiding extension cords or power strips that may cause voltage drops.
- Control board replacement: If the model should retain settings and now does not, the memory section of the control board has likely failed. Replace the main control board.
