Dehumidifier shows BU and stops running, even though bucket appears empty

Safety: Unplug the unit before inspecting the bucket area.

Steps to address BU:

• Remove and reseat bucket: Pull the bucket out completely and reinstall it firmly until it clicks into place.
• Inspect bucket tabs: Look for plastic tabs or protrusions on the bucket that press the internal switch. If broken, the bucket may need replacement.
• Check switch alignment: With the bucket removed, locate the bucket switch inside the cavity. Ensure it is not bent or loose.
• Test switch: Press the switch lever by hand and listen for a click. If it does not click or feels loose, replace the switch.
• Replace bucket or switch: If the bucket is damaged, replace it with a GE-compatible bucket. If the switch is faulty, replace the bucket presence/bucket full switch.
