Possible Causes
Clogged air filter, Dust buildup on evaporator coil, Restricted air intake or exhaust, Fan motor not reaching full speed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Understanding CF: On some GE models, CF is a reminder to check and clean the air filter and airflow path.
Steps to address CF:
- Clean filter: Remove the air filter, wash with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and let dry completely before reinstalling.
- Clean coils: Remove the front grille and gently vacuum dust from the evaporator coil. If accessible, clean the condenser coil as well.
- Check airflow: Ensure there is at least 6 inches of clearance around the unit and that no objects block the intake or exhaust.
- Reset indicator: Some models require holding a specific button (e.g., Filter or Timer) for a few seconds to reset CF. Refer to the user manual for the exact procedure.
Note: If CF returns quickly after cleaning, inspect the fan motor and capacitor for proper operation.
