Possible Causes

Failed touchpad or keypad assembly, Loose or damaged interface ribbon cable, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Faulty display/control interface board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before opening the control panel. Avoid static discharge to electronic parts.

Steps to address E6:

  • Power reset: Unplug for 5 minutes, then plug back in. If E6 returns immediately, continue.
  • Inspect control panel: Check for visible cracks, water stains, or stuck buttons on the keypad. Wipe the surface dry.
  • Open the control housing: Remove screws around the control bezel. Gently lift the panel to expose the keypad/touch board and its ribbon cable to the main board.
  • Check ribbon cable: Ensure the flat cable is fully inserted and locked in its connector. Look for tears or burn marks. Replace the cable or keypad assembly if damaged.
  • Dry and clean: If there are signs of moisture, allow the panel to dry thoroughly. Use a dry, soft brush to remove dust and debris.
  • Replace interface: If E6 persists and the cable is intact, replace the keypad/touch control assembly or the entire user interface board with a GE-compatible part.
  • Reassemble and test: Reinstall the panel, restore power, and test all buttons for proper response.

Note: If replacing the interface does not resolve E6, the main control board may also be defective.
