Possible Causes

Corrupted control board memory, Power surge damage, Incorrect or incompatible replacement control board, Manufacturing defect in control electronics

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before any disassembly.

Steps to address E9:

  • Extended reset: Unplug the dehumidifier for at least 15 minutes. Press and hold the power button (if accessible) for 10 seconds while unplugged to help discharge the board, then plug back in.
  • Check power quality: Plug the unit directly into a properly grounded wall outlet. Avoid extension cords or power strips that may cause voltage drops.
  • Inspect control board: Remove the control panel cover and visually inspect the main control board for burn marks or damaged components.
  • Confirm correct board: If the control board was recently replaced, verify that the part number matches the exact GE model. An incorrect board can trigger configuration errors.
  • Replace main control board: If E9 persists and wiring is intact, replace the main control board with a new, model-specific GE board. Transfer all connectors one at a time to avoid miswiring.

Note: EEPROM or firmware-level faults are not field-repairable; board replacement is the standard remedy.
