Possible Causes
Open or shorted humidity sensor, Loose humidity sensor connector, Damaged sensor traces on control board, Faulty main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before opening the control panel.
Steps to address F1:
- Reset: Unplug for 5 minutes and plug back in. If F1 reappears, continue.
- Access humidity sensor: Remove the control panel or front grille to locate the humidity sensor module or area on the control board.
- Inspect sensor and wiring: Ensure the sensor is not covered in dust or lint. Clean gently with a soft brush or compressed air. Check the connector for a secure fit.
- Replace sensor: If the sensor is a separate component and shows signs of corrosion or physical damage, replace it with a GE-compatible humidity sensor.
- Replace control board: If the sensor is integrated or a new sensor does not clear F1, replace the main control board.
Note: Incorrect humidity readings can cause the unit to short-cycle or not run when needed.
