• Listen for compressor: When the unit calls for dehumidification, you should hear a low hum from the compressor. If you only hear the fan, continue.
• Access compressor terminals: Remove the rear or side panel to expose the compressor. Remove the terminal cover.
• Inspect start components: Check the compressor start relay / PTC and overload for burns or cracks. Replace if damaged.
• Test compressor windings (advanced): With a multimeter, check resistance between C-R, C-S, and R-S terminals. Open or shorted readings indicate a bad compressor.
• Control board relay: If compressor and start parts test good, the main board may not be sending power. Inspect and replace the main control board if necessary.
