Possible Causes
Stuck or shorted keypad buttons, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Damaged user interface board, Loose ribbon cable between keypad and main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before working on the control panel.
Steps to address F1:
- Dry the control area: If the panel has been exposed to moisture, allow it to dry completely. Use a hair dryer on low, held at a distance, to gently dry the area.
- Inspect buttons: Check for physically stuck buttons. Gently work each button to ensure it moves freely.
- Access the user interface board: Remove screws securing the control panel and carefully lift it. Inspect the ribbon cable and connectors for damage or corrosion.
- Reseat the ribbon cable: Disconnect and reconnect the cable between the keypad and main board.
- Replace the control panel: If F1 persists, replace the GE control panel / user interface assembly for your model.
