Possible Causes
Out-of-range humidity sensor, Corroded sensor contacts, Wiring harness damage, Control board analog-to-digital converter fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before servicing.
Steps to address F2:
- Clean sensor area: Remove the front grille and gently clean dust from the humidity sensor and intake area using compressed air.
- Check wiring: Inspect the humidity sensor harness for damage and ensure the connector is fully seated on the main board.
- Compare humidity reading: Use a separate hygrometer in the same room. If the GE unit's reading is wildly inaccurate, the sensor is likely faulty.
- Replace humidity sensor: Install a new GE humidity sensor / RH sensor module and reconnect it to the board.
- Control board replacement: If a new sensor does not resolve F2, replace the main control board.
