Possible Causes
Water bucket full, Bucket not seated properly against the safety switch, Faulty bucket float or bucket switch, Debris preventing bucket from fully engaging switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn the unit off before removing the bucket.
Steps to address P2:
- Empty the bucket: Remove the water bucket and empty it completely. Rinse out any sludge or mold.
- Check bucket placement: Reinstall the bucket firmly, pushing it all the way in until it is flush with the front of the unit. Many GE models require the bucket to lift a small lever or press a switch.
- Inspect the bucket float: Inside the bucket, verify that the float moves freely up and down and is not stuck by mineral deposits. Clean and free it if necessary.
- Check the bucket switch: With the bucket removed and the unit unplugged, locate the bucket full switch near the bucket opening. Ensure the actuator lever is not broken and the switch is not loose.
- Test the switch (if you have a meter): Disconnect the switch and check continuity while pressing and releasing the actuator. Replace the switch if it does not change state.
- Continuous drain mode: If using a drain hose, ensure the bucket is still installed correctly; many GE units still require the bucket in place even when draining continuously.
