Possible Causes

Open or shorted ambient temperature sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness to main PCB, Corroded or loose connector on control board, Failed main control board (PCB)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dehumidifier before removing any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to power.

  • Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in and try to start it. Sometimes the control board will clear a transient E1 error.
  • Check sensor wiring: Remove the front or side panel (per Haier service manual for your model). Locate the ambient temperature sensor (usually a small thermistor clipped near the air intake or evaporator, with two thin wires going to the main PCB). Inspect the wiring harness for cuts, pinches, or burn marks.
  • Inspect connectors: At the main PCB, gently unplug and re-seat the sensor connector. Look for corrosion, bent pins, or loose fit. Clean with electronic contact cleaner if needed and allow to dry fully.
  • Test the sensor (for advanced DIYers): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to Haier’s temperature–resistance chart for your model (typically 5–50 kΩ depending on temperature). If the reading is open (infinite) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is defective.
  • Replace faulty parts: If the sensor is out of spec or physically damaged, replace the ambient temperature sensor/thermistor assembly. If the sensor tests good but E1 persists, the main control board may be defective and should be replaced or inspected by a technician.
