Possible Causes

Open or shorted evaporator thermistor, Broken or pinched sensor wires at evaporator coil, Corroded connector at main PCB, Failed main control board (PCB) sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the cabinet. Coil fins are sharp; wear gloves.

  • Reset the unit: Unplug for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If E2 returns immediately, proceed with inspection.
  • Locate the evaporator sensor: Remove the front grille and air filter. Access the evaporator coil (cold coil). The sensor is usually clipped to the coil tubing or fins with two small wires leading to the PCB.
  • Inspect sensor and wiring: Check that the sensor is firmly clipped to the coil and not hanging loose. Look for broken insulation, pinched wires, or corrosion at the clip area from condensate.
  • Check connections: Trace the sensor wires back to the main control board. Unplug and re-seat the connector. Inspect for bent pins or moisture damage.
  • Test the thermistor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to Haier’s spec chart. A reading of infinite resistance (open) or near zero (short) indicates a bad sensor.
  • Replace as needed: Replace the evaporator temperature sensor if out of spec or damaged. If the sensor is good and wiring is intact but E2 persists, the main PCB may need replacement by a qualified technician.
