Possible Causes
Failed fan motor, Obstructed fan blade, Broken fan blade hub, Faulty fan motor capacitor (if used), Fan speed feedback signal failure to PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Fan blades are sharp; wear gloves. Do not bypass safety interlocks.
- Check for obstructions: Look through the intake and exhaust grilles for plastic bags, insulation, or other debris blocking the fan. Remove any obstruction carefully.
- Spin the fan by hand: Remove the front or rear cover to access the fan. Gently spin the blade. It should rotate freely without grinding. If it is stiff or seized, the motor may be failing.
- Inspect the fan blade: Check for cracks, loose hub, or missing blades. A loose blade can slip on the shaft and trigger a fan error.
- Check wiring: Verify that the fan motor harness is securely connected to the main PCB. Look for burnt connectors or damaged wires.
- Test operation: With the covers reinstalled, plug in and start the unit. If the fan does not start but hums, the motor or capacitor (if present) may be bad.
- Replace components: Replace the fan motor and/or fan blade if they are damaged or seized. If the motor runs but E8 persists, the PCB’s fan feedback circuit may be faulty and the main control board may need replacement.
