Possible Causes
Failed evaporator thermistor, Loose or corroded sensor connector, Sensor wire damaged by coil or ice, Faulty sensor circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Coil fins are sharp; wear gloves.
- Access coil: Remove front panel and filter to expose the evaporator coil.
- Inspect sensor: Locate the thermistor clipped to the coil. Ensure it is firmly attached and not dangling. Check for damaged insulation or broken wires.
- Reseat connector: Follow the sensor wires to the PCB and reseat the connector.
- Test sensor: Use a multimeter to check resistance. Replace the sensor if it is open, shorted, or out of spec.
- PCB diagnosis: If the sensor is good and wiring intact but F2 persists, the main control board may need replacement.
