Possible Causes
Full water bucket, Misaligned bucket not engaging switch, Stuck or failed bucket float switch, Debris blocking float movement, Faulty bucket level sensor wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the unit off and unplug it before removing the bucket to avoid spills on live components.
- Empty the bucket: Carefully slide out the water bucket and empty it completely. Rinse to remove any sludge or mold buildup.
- Check bucket placement: Reinsert the bucket firmly until it is fully seated. Many Haier units will show P2 if the bucket is not pushed in far enough to activate the safety switch.
- Inspect float and switch: Look inside the bucket compartment for the float mechanism or micro-switch that detects water level. Ensure the float moves freely and is not obstructed by dirt or scale.
- Clean the area: Wipe down the bucket rails and switch area. Remove any debris that could prevent proper engagement.
- Test with gentle pressure: With the bucket removed and the unit unplugged, gently press the bucket switch lever by hand. It should click distinctly. If it feels loose or does not click, the switch may be faulty.
- Replace switch if needed: If P2 remains even with an empty, properly seated bucket, replace the bucket full switch or float assembly. Check wiring from the switch to the main PCB for damage.
