Possible Causes

Loose or damaged control panel ribbon cable, Failed user interface (UI) board, Corroded connector at main PCB, Moisture intrusion into control panel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Hisense dehumidifier from the wall outlet before removing any covers. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to power.

  • Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes, then plug it back in and try the controls again. Sometimes E1 is a temporary communication glitch.
  • Check control panel lock: Some Hisense models have a child lock. Hold the lock button (or both up/down arrows) for 3–5 seconds to unlock and see if E1 clears.
  • Inspect control panel cable: Remove the front or top cover (usually a few Phillips screws). Locate the flat ribbon cable or harness from the control panel to the main PCB. Ensure it is fully seated and not pinched or damaged. Reseat both ends.
  • Check for moisture or corrosion: Look for signs of water droplets or corrosion on the control panel PCB and connectors. If present, dry gently with a hair dryer on cool/low and clean light corrosion with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush.
  • Test operation: Reassemble the cover, plug the unit back in, and check if the E1 code is gone. If the error persists and buttons still do not respond, the user interface board is likely faulty and should be replaced.
  • When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable removing the cover or if the main control board shows burn marks or damage, contact a qualified appliance technician.
