Possible Causes

Open or shorted ambient temperature sensor, Broken sensor wiring harness, Corroded connector at main PCB, Failed main control board sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the cabinet. Avoid touching the refrigerant tubing with tools.

  • Reset the unit: Unplug for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in. If E2 returns immediately, proceed with inspection.
  • Locate the temperature sensor: On Hisense dehumidifiers, the ambient NTC sensor is usually clipped near the air intake grille or on the evaporator inlet area, connected by two small wires to the main PCB.
  • Inspect wiring: Remove the front or rear cover. Follow the small two-wire harness from the sensor to the main control board. Check for cuts, pinches, or disconnections. Reseat the connector on the PCB.
  • Check sensor placement: Ensure the sensor bulb is properly clipped in place and not dangling away from airflow or touching hot components.
  • Basic sensor test (optional): With power disconnected, you can measure resistance across the sensor leads using a multimeter. A typical NTC will show several kΩ at room temperature. An infinite reading (open) or near 0 Ω (short) indicates a bad sensor.
  • Replace sensor if faulty: If wiring is intact but E2 persists, replace the ambient temperature sensor assembly with a Hisense-compatible NTC sensor.
  • Main board check: If a new sensor does not clear E2, the main PCB sensor circuit may be defective and the control board will need replacement.
