Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.

Possible Causes
Overheated compressor, Failed compressor overload protector, Shorted compressor winding, Blocked condenser coil causing high pressure, Faulty main control board current sensing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system or handle refrigerant without proper certification.
- Check ambient conditions: Ensure the dehumidifier is used in a room within the specified temperature range (typically 41–95°F / 5–35°C) and with adequate clearance around the air inlets and outlets.
- Clean condenser coil and filter: Remove and wash the air filter. Access the rear or side condenser coil (the warm coil) and vacuum or brush off dust buildup. Blocked airflow can cause compressor overheating and E5 errors.
- Allow cool-down: Leave the unit unplugged for 30–60 minutes to allow the compressor and overload protector to cool. Then plug in and test again.
- Listen for compressor start: When restarting, listen for a low humming sound from the compressor. A loud click followed by silence may indicate a failed overload or compressor.
- Inspect wiring to compressor: With power disconnected, remove the rear panel and check the wiring harness and connectors to the compressor and overload device for burns or loose connections.
- When to call a technician: If E5 persists after cleaning and cool-down, or if you suspect a compressor or overload failure, professional diagnosis is required. Compressor and sealed system repairs are not DIY-friendly.
