P1
Hisense
Defrost Mode Active (Low Temperature Protection)
Dehumidifier displays P1 and stops dehumidifying; fan may continue to run.

Possible Causes
Evaporator coil temperature below safe operating range, Room temperature too low for dehumidification, Frost buildup on evaporator, Faulty coil temperature sensor misreading low temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: P1 on many Hisense dehumidifiers is a status/defrost indication, not a failure, but it can indicate operating condition issues.
- Check room temperature: Ensure the room is above the minimum operating temperature (typically 41°F / 5°C). If the room is too cold, move the unit to a warmer location.
- Allow defrost cycle: When P1 appears, the unit is usually in automatic defrost. Let it run for 10–20 minutes. Once the coil warms up, the code should clear and normal operation resume.
- Inspect for frost: If safe to do so, remove the front cover and check the evaporator coil. Heavy ice buildup indicates poor airflow or low ambient temperature.
- Improve airflow: Clean the air filter and ensure there is at least 8–12 inches of clearance around the unit. Blocked airflow can cause the coil to freeze.
- Sensor issues: If P1 never clears even in a warm room, the evaporator temperature sensor may be faulty and should be tested and replaced if necessary.
