Dehumidifier shows E2 and will not run or cycles off quickly; bucket is empty or partially full.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before opening the cabinet. Sharp metal edges are common around the coil area; wear cut‑resistant gloves.
Steps:
- Reset: Unplug for 5–10 minutes, then power back on. If E2 returns, proceed.
- Access the evaporator: Remove the front or rear grille (depending on model) to expose the evaporator coil. The E2 sensor is usually clipped to the coil tubing with a metal or plastic clip.
- Check sensor position: Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped to the coil and not hanging loose. Reclip it tightly to the coil surface.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the control board. Look for chafing where the harness passes through metal, and verify the connector is fully seated.
- Test sensor: With a multimeter, measure resistance at room temperature and compare to Honeywell’s spec. If the sensor reads open, short, or wildly off spec, replace it.
- Board diagnosis: If a new sensor and good wiring still result in E2, the control board’s sensor input is likely defective and the board should be replaced.
Note: Do not bend the evaporator tubing; this can cause refrigerant leaks and permanently damage the unit.
