Possible Causes

Low refrigerant charge due to leak, Blocked or dirty evaporator coil, Faulty coil temperature sensor, Control board misinterpreting sensor data

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit. Do not attempt to open sealed refrigeration components without proper certification.

Steps:

  • Clean filter and coil: Remove and clean the air filter. Inspect the evaporator coil for heavy dust or ice buildup; gently clean with a soft brush and coil cleaner if accessible.
  • Check room conditions: Ensure the room temperature is within the operating range and that doors/windows are closed to reduce excessive moisture load.
  • Inspect coil sensor: Verify the evaporator sensor is properly clipped to the coil and wiring is intact. Replace the sensor if damaged.
  • Observe operation: After cleaning and sensor check, run the unit for 20–30 minutes. If the coil does not get uniformly cold or EC returns, the sealed system may be undercharged or restricted.

Warning: Refrigerant diagnosis and charging must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. In many portable dehumidifiers, sealed system repair is not cost‑effective compared to replacement.
