Possible Causes
Bucket not seated or bucket switch open, Humidity setpoint higher than room humidity, Child lock or timer delay active, Faulty bucket full switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Steps:
- Check bucket: Remove and firmly reinstall the water bucket. Ensure it is fully inserted and level.
- Verify settings: Set the humidity to a low value (e.g., 35–40%) and select Continuous mode if available. Disable any timer functions.
- Child lock: Some Insignia models have a lock feature; press and hold the Lock or relevant button combination per the manual to unlock.
- Bucket switch test: With the unit unplugged and bucket removed, locate the bucket full switch. Manually actuate it and listen for a click. If it feels loose or does not click, it may be faulty.
- Bypass test (advanced): For testing only, a technician may temporarily jumper the bucket switch to confirm operation. Homeowners should instead replace the switch if suspected bad.
Note: If all interlocks are satisfied and the unit still does not start, the main control board or relay may be defective.
