Insignia
Reduced Dehumidification Efficiency
Dehumidifier runs but collects very little water compared to before
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Partially blocked evaporator or condenser coils, Dirty air filter restricting airflow, Room humidity lower than expected, Early-stage refrigerant leak reducing capacity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before cleaning internal components.
Steps:
- Verify conditions: Use a hygrometer to confirm room humidity. If RH is already low (below ~45%), water collection will naturally be minimal.
- Clean filter: Remove and wash the air filter. Let it dry fully before reinstalling.
- Clean coils: Remove front and rear covers as needed to access coils. Carefully brush off dust and use a non-corrosive coil cleaner if heavily soiled.
- Check airflow: Ensure intake and exhaust are not blocked by walls, curtains, or furniture.
- Observe coil behavior: After 15–20 minutes of operation, the evaporator should be evenly cool. If only a small section is cold or frosted, the sealed system may be partially restricted or low on refrigerant.
When to call a technician: If cleaning does not restore performance and the unit is still under warranty, contact Insignia support. Sealed system issues require professional service.
