HI
Insignia High Ambient Temperature Warning

Dehumidifier displays HI and may shut down

Advertisements

Possible Causes

Room temperature above maximum operating range, Unit placed in direct sunlight or near heat source, Faulty ambient temperature sensor reading too high

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Steps:

  • Measure room temperature: Confirm the room is within the specified operating range (often up to 95°F / 35°C). If hotter, improve ventilation or move the unit.
  • Relocate: Keep the dehumidifier away from ovens, radiators, and direct sunlight.
  • Clean filter and vents: Overheating can be worsened by restricted airflow. Clean the filter and ensure vents are clear.
  • Sensor check: If the room is not excessively hot but HI persists, inspect and test the ambient temperature sensor. Replace if out of spec.

Note: Prolonged operation in very high temperatures can shorten compressor life.
