Possible Causes

Water bucket is full, Bucket not fully inserted, Faulty bucket full float switch, Misaligned bucket float arm

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Always unplug before reaching inside the cabinet.

Steps:

  • Empty bucket: Pull out the water bucket and empty it completely. Check for cracks or warping that might prevent proper seating.
  • Reinstall correctly: Slide the bucket back in firmly until it is fully seated and flush with the front of the unit.
  • Check float: With the bucket removed, locate the float mechanism (either in the bucket or inside the cabinet). Ensure it moves freely up and down and is not stuck in the “full” position.
  • Inspect bucket switch: Find the bucket full switch or sensor (often a small microswitch or magnetic reed switch). Make sure the actuator or magnet is aligned with the switch when the bucket is installed.
  • Test switch (if you have a meter): With power disconnected, test continuity of the bucket switch while actuating it. Replace if it does not change state.
  • Replace parts if needed: If the bucket is damaged or the float is broken, replace the bucket assembly. If the switch is faulty, replace it with an Insignia-compatible bucket full switch.

Note: Some models will show P2 whenever the bucket is removed; this is normal and clears when the bucket is reinstalled properly.
