Possible Causes
Dirty evaporator coil, Stagnant water in tank, Contaminated drain hose, Dirty air filter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Wear gloves and, if sensitive, a mask when cleaning moldy components.
- Clean water tank: Wash the tank with warm soapy water and a mild disinfectant. Rinse thoroughly.
- Clean air filter: Remove and wash the filter. Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
- Coil cleaning: Access the evaporator and condenser coils. Use a non-corrosive coil cleaner suitable for aluminum and rinse lightly, avoiding overspray on electronics.
- Drain hose: If using continuous drain, flush the hose with a mixture of water and mild bleach, then rinse.
- Drying cycle: After cleaning, run the unit in fan-only mode (if available) for 30–60 minutes to dry internal surfaces.
