Possible Causes

Loose fan blade or fan hub, Foreign object in fan housing, Worn fan motor bearings, Loose compressor mounting bolts

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before inspecting moving parts. Do not insert fingers near the fan while powered.

  • Check external causes: Ensure the unit is not touching walls or furniture that can resonate and amplify vibration.
  • Inspect fan assembly: Remove the grille and visually inspect the fan wheel. Tighten any loose mounting screws. Remove any debris caught in the blades.
  • Fan balance: Spin the fan by hand; wobbling indicates a warped blade. Replace the fan wheel / blower wheel if damaged.
  • Motor bearings: If you hear grinding from the motor itself, replace the fan motor assembly.
  • Compressor mounts: Access the compressor compartment and check that rubber mounts and bolts are intact and tight. Replace worn compressor mounting grommets if necessary.
