Possible Causes
Shorted evaporator NTC sensor, Open evaporator NTC sensor, Loose sensor clip on evaporator coil, Faulty main PCB sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before opening the cabinet. Sharp metal edges around the coil can cut; wear gloves.
- Access the evaporator sensor: Remove the front or side cover to expose the evaporator coil (cold aluminum fins). The evaporator NTC sensor is usually clipped or taped directly to the coil or suction pipe.
- Check sensor mounting: Ensure the sensor probe is firmly attached to the coil. If it has fallen off or is hanging loose, reattach it using the original clip or aluminum tape so it makes good thermal contact.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the two-wire harness from the sensor back to the main PCB. Look for cuts, abrasions, or pinched sections. Reseat the connector on the PCB.
- Test the sensor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance. Compare to the ambient sensor if they are the same type; they should be in a similar range at room temperature. A reading of 0 Ω or infinite resistance indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace evaporator NTC sensor: If defective, install a new Inventor evaporator NTC temperature sensor designed for your model. Clip it securely to the same coil location.
- Check PCB if sensors are OK: If both sensor and wiring are good, the main PCB may misread the sensor. Replacement of the main control PCB may be necessary.
