Possible Causes
Blocked fan wheel, Failed fan motor, Faulty fan capacitor (AC motor types), Fan speed feedback signal missing to PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Beware of sharp metal edges and fragile fan blades.
- Check for obstructions: Remove the front or rear grille and inspect the fan wheel. Clear any debris, plastic, or insulation that may be jamming the fan.
- Spin test: Gently spin the fan by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. If it is stiff or noisy, the fan motor may be failing.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the fan motor wires to the PCB. Ensure connectors are tight and wires are not damaged.
- Capacitor check (if equipped): Some Inventor dehumidifiers use a run capacitor for the fan motor. A bulged or leaking capacitor should be replaced with the correct fan motor capacitor value.
- Replace fan motor: If the motor does not run when powered and E8 persists, replace the condenser/evaporator fan motor assembly with the correct Inventor part.
- PCB issue: If a known-good motor and wiring are present but E8 remains, the main PCB’s fan drive or feedback circuit may be defective and require replacement.
