Possible Causes
Corrupted EEPROM data, Failed memory IC on main PCB, Voltage spike or surge damage, Poor PCB solder joints around memory chip
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before opening the electronics compartment.
- Power cycle: Unplug the unit for at least 10 minutes to fully discharge internal capacitors, then plug back in and check if E9 clears.
- Check power quality: Ensure the outlet provides stable voltage within the range specified on the rating label. Avoid using undersized extension cords.
- Inspect PCB (visual): Remove the cover over the main PCB and look for burn marks, cracked solder joints, or obvious damage. Do not touch components with power connected.
- Surge protection: If E9 occurred after a storm or power event, consider using a surge protector in the future.
- Replace main PCB: EEPROM or memory IC faults on Inventor boards are not field-repairable for most users. Replace the main control PCB with the exact part number for your model.
