P1
Inventor Defrost Mode Active / Low Coil Temperature Protection

Dehumidifier shows P1 and stops dehumidifying

Possible Causes

Evaporator coil temperature below safe limit, Very low room temperature, Frost buildup on evaporator, Faulty defrost sensor reading low

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Note: On many Inventor dehumidifiers, P1 is an informational code indicating automatic defrost, not a fault.

  • Check room temperature: Dehumidifiers are designed to work best above about 5–10°C. If the room is too cold, the unit will frequently enter defrost (P1). Consider raising the room temperature or moving the unit to a warmer area.
  • Allow defrost cycle: When P1 appears, the compressor stops and the fan may continue to run to melt ice. Wait 10–20 minutes to see if the code clears automatically.
  • Inspect for heavy icing: If the evaporator is heavily iced, unplug the unit and let it thaw completely. Clean the air filter and ensure airflow is not blocked.
  • Sensor check: If P1 appears constantly even in a warm room, the defrost/evaporator sensor may be misreading. Inspect and, if necessary, replace the evaporator NTC sensor.
