- Spin test: With power off, spin the fan by hand. If it is stiff or does not coast, the fan motor is likely seized and must be replaced.
- Inspect wiring: Verify the fan motor connector is firmly plugged into the main control board and that wires are not damaged.
- Voltage test (advanced): With extreme caution and proper tools, a technician can check for voltage at the fan motor when the unit calls for fan operation. No voltage indicates a bad control board relay.
