Possible Causes
Loose fan blade, worn fan motor bearings, loose compressor mounting bolts, cabinet panels vibrating, foreign object contacting fan or blower wheel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before removing covers. Keep fingers clear of fan blades.
Steps:
- Check placement: Ensure the unit is on a solid, level surface and not touching walls or furniture.
- Inspect fan and blower: Remove the front cover and look for debris in the fan or blower wheel. Tighten the fan blade set screw if loose.
- Check motor bearings: Spin the fan by hand (with power off). If it feels rough or wobbly, replace the fan motor.
- Compressor mounts: Access the compressor area and verify the rubber mounting grommets and bolts are intact and tight.
- Panel vibration: Tighten any loose screws on the cabinet panels. Add thin foam tape between rattling panels if needed.
