• Ambient temperature: Verify the room is within the operating range (typically above 41°F/5°C). In very cold rooms, the compressor may be locked out.
• Listen for clicks: When the compressor should start, listen for a click from the control board relay or compressor. Repeated clicking without start suggests a bad compressor start relay/PTC or compressor.
• Inspect start components (advanced): Access the compressor compartment and check the start relay and overload protector mounted on the compressor. Replace the compressor start relay/overload assembly if it shows signs of burning or rattles when shaken.
• Board diagnosis: If the compressor never receives power, the main control board relay may be defective and require replacement.
