Possible Causes
Open or shorted temperature sensor, sensor knocked out of position, damaged harness, failed control board sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before opening the cabinet.
Steps:
- Identify which sensor: Consult the model's tech sheet if available; F2 may refer to ambient or coil sensor depending on model.
- Locate the sensor: Ambient sensors are near the air intake; coil sensors are clipped to the evaporator.
- Inspect and reseat: Check for loose mounting, damaged wires, or corroded connectors. Reseat the connector on the PCB.
- Replace sensor: If the sensor is visibly damaged or tests open/short with a multimeter, replace it with the correct Keystone temperature sensor for your model.
- Board diagnosis: If a new sensor does not resolve F2, the main control board may need replacement.
