Dehumidifier or humidifier produces a musty or moldy smell during operation.

Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning. Avoid inhaling dust or mold; consider wearing a mask and gloves.

• Clean tank and tray: Remove the water tank and wash with warm water and mild detergent. For dehumidifiers, clean the drain pan with a mixture of water and white vinegar.
• Disinfect surfaces: Wipe internal plastic surfaces and the tank with a diluted bleach solution (per manufacturer’s guidance) or a commercial appliance disinfectant. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
• Clean or replace filter: Wash reusable filters or replace disposable ones with Klarstein-approved filters.
• Run on fan-only: After cleaning, run the unit on fan-only mode for 30 minutes to dry internal components.
