Possible Causes

Failed DC fan motor, Obstructed fan blades, Loose fan connector, Fan driver circuit failure on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the humidifier and remove the water tank before opening.

Steps:

  • Check for obstructions: Look through the air outlet and intake for foreign objects, dust clumps, or filter material blocking the fan. Remove any debris.
  • Access fan: Remove the housing screws and carefully lift off the cover to expose the fan assembly.
  • Spin test: Gently spin the fan blades by hand. They should rotate freely without grinding or resistance. If stiff, clean the hub and remove any buildup.
  • Inspect wiring: Ensure the fan motor connector is firmly attached to the main PCB and wires are not damaged.
  • Test operation: With the unit reassembled enough for safe operation, briefly power on to see if the fan starts. If it does not, the motor or driver is faulty.
  • Replace fan motor: Remove the fan assembly (usually held by screws or clips) and install a new Levoit‑compatible DC fan motor. Reconnect wiring and reassemble.
  • Control board: If a new fan does not run and E8 persists, the fan driver on the main PCB is likely defective and the board should be replaced.
