Possible Causes
Water leaked into base electronics, Damaged tank seal or O‑ring, Cracked water tank or base, Saturated internal leak sensor pad (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Immediately unplug the unit if water intrusion is suspected. Do not operate a wet appliance.
Steps:
- Dry the unit: Remove the tank and empty all water. Wipe the base dry. Allow the unit to air dry for at least 24 hours in a warm, dry location.
- Inspect seals: Check the tank cap, O‑rings, and bottom valve for cracks or deformation. Replace any damaged seals.
- Check for cracks: Examine the tank and base water chamber for hairline cracks or warping that could cause leaks.
- Leak sensor pad: Some Levoit models have an absorbent pad or sensor at the bottom of the electronics compartment. If soaked, remove and dry or replace it.
- Inspect PCB: Open the base and inspect the main PCB for corrosion or water marks. Clean light corrosion with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush. Severely corroded boards should be replaced.
- Reassemble and test: Once fully dry and any damaged parts are replaced, reassemble and test. If E9 persists, the leak sensor or main PCB may need replacement.
