How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning.
Steps:
- Disassemble and empty: Remove the tank and empty all water from tank and base.
- Deep clean: Wash the tank with warm water and mild dish soap. Use a soft brush to scrub corners and seams.
- Disinfect: Fill the tank with a solution of 1 teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water. Let sit for 20–30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly until no bleach smell remains.
- Clean base: Wipe the base water chamber with a cloth dampened with a mild vinegar solution. Do not submerge the base.
- Replace filters: If your Levoit model uses a water filter cartridge or wick, replace it according to the manual.
- Prevent recurrence: Empty and dry the tank and base daily when in use, and perform a deep clean at least weekly.
