Dehumidifier powers on but compressor never starts, fan only

Safety: Unplug the unit. Compressor circuits carry mains voltage; advanced tests should be done by a qualified person.

Steps:

• Check settings: Ensure the target humidity is set low enough and that the unit is not in fan‑only mode.
• Ambient temperature: Confirm the room is above the minimum operating temperature. In cold rooms, the compressor may be inhibited.
• Listen for clicks: When the unit calls for dehumidification, listen for a relay click and slight dimming of lights. No click may indicate a PCB relay fault.
• Inspect start components: Access the compressor terminal cover and inspect the PTC starter/relay and overload protector for burns or cracks. Replace if damaged.
• Professional testing: Measuring compressor winding resistance and current draw should be done by a technician. A failed compressor or PCB relay will require component replacement.
