Dehumidifier stops and displays E1 on the control panel
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the unit off and unplug it before removing any covers. Wait at least 5 minutes for capacitors on the control board to discharge.
Step-by-step checks:
- Power reset: Unplug the Meaco dehumidifier for 10 minutes, then plug back in and power on. If E1 clears and does not return, it may have been a transient fault.
- Inspect the room temperature sensor: Locate the small NTC sensor near the air intake grille or on the evaporator coil bracket (refer to your Meaco model’s service layout). Check that the sensor probe is intact and not broken or corroded.
- Check wiring and connectors: Follow the two thin sensor wires back to the main PCB. Ensure the plug is fully seated, pins are not bent, and there is no corrosion or damage to the cable.
- Test the sensor (for advanced users): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor from the PCB and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to Meaco’s NTC resistance chart (typically ~5–20 kΩ at room temperature). A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace if faulty: If the sensor is out of spec or physically damaged, replace it with a compatible Meaco room temperature NTC sensor. Route the new sensor wiring away from sharp metal edges and moving parts.
- Control board check: If a known-good sensor still gives E1, the main control PCB may have a failed sensor input and will need replacement by a qualified technician.
When to stop: If you are not comfortable using a multimeter or removing the front cover, contact a Meaco-authorized service center.
