Possible Causes

Open or shorted evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Damaged sensor harness, Faulty main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the dehumidifier before opening any panels. Avoid touching the sharp fins of the evaporator coil.

Steps:

  • Reset the unit: Disconnect power for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect. If E2 reappears immediately, proceed with inspection.
  • Locate the evaporator sensor: Remove the front or side cover (depending on model). The evaporator NTC is usually clipped or taped to the evaporator coil tubing or fins.
  • Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil and has not fallen away. Re-clip or re-tape it securely so it senses coil temperature correctly.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the main PCB. Look for cuts, pinched sections, or loose connectors. Reseat the connector on the PCB.
  • Test the sensor: With the unit unplugged and sensor disconnected, measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to Meaco’s specified NTC values at room temperature. Replace if open, shorted, or far out of spec.
  • Replace components: If the sensor is faulty, install a new Meaco evaporator NTC sensor. If a new sensor does not clear E2, the main control PCB may be defective and should be replaced by a professional.

Note: Do not run the unit with the sensor disconnected; it can cause icing or compressor damage.
