Possible Causes

Failed digital humidity sensor, Corroded humidity sensor due to high moisture, Loose or damaged sensor harness, Faulty main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off and unplug the unit before inspection.

Diagnosis and fix:

  • Power cycle: Unplug for 10 minutes, then restart. If E3 persists, continue.
  • Locate the humidity sensor: On many Meaco models, the humidity sensor is mounted behind the front grille near the air intake or on a small sub‑board connected to the main PCB.
  • Visual inspection: Check for signs of corrosion, dust buildup, or water droplets on the sensor. If dusty, gently clean with dry compressed air. Do not use liquid cleaners.
  • Check connections: Ensure the sensor plug is firmly seated on the PCB and that the cable is not pinched or broken.
  • Replace sensor: If E3 remains, replace the Meaco humidity sensor module with the correct part for your model. Transfer any mounting brackets or clips from the old sensor.
  • Control board: If a new sensor does not resolve E3, the main control PCB may have a failed sensor interface and should be replaced by a technician.

Tip: Avoid operating the unit in environments with corrosive vapors (e.g. near pools with strong chlorine) as this can shorten sensor life.
