Possible Causes
Overheated compressor, Blocked air intake or outlet, Faulty compressor thermal protector, Failing compressor, Main PCB drive fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. The compressor and surrounding components may be hot; allow cooling before touching.
Steps:
- Ventilation check: Ensure at least 20–30 cm clearance around the air intake and outlet. Remove any obstructions and clean dust from grilles.
- Filter cleaning: Remove the air filter and wash it with mild soap and water. Dry completely before reinstalling. A clogged filter can cause overheating.
- Ambient temperature: Confirm the room is within the Meaco operating range (typically 5–35 °C). High ambient temperatures can trigger compressor protection.
- Reset: After cleaning and ensuring good airflow, leave the unit unplugged for 30–60 minutes to allow the compressor overload to reset. Then reconnect power and test.
- Internal checks (advanced): If E5 returns quickly, the compressor thermal protector or the compressor itself may be failing. Inspect wiring to the compressor and overload device for burns or loose connections.
- Professional service: Compressor or PCB drive faults require a qualified refrigeration technician. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system.
