Possible Causes
Defective ambient temperature NTC sensor, Broken or loose sensor harness, Corroded connector on main control board, Failed main PCB temperature input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dehumidifier before removing any panels. Capacitors on the control board can hold a charge; avoid touching board components directly.
- Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then plug back in and try again. If E1 returns, continue.
- Access the control area: Remove the front or top cover (varies by Midea model) by taking out visible screws and gently releasing plastic clips.
- Locate the ambient temperature sensor: On most Midea dehumidifiers, the room temperature NTC is clipped near the air intake grille or on the evaporator inlet area, with two thin wires going to the main PCB.
- Check wiring and connector: Ensure the sensor plug is fully seated on the main PCB. Look for broken wires, pinched cable, or corrosion. Reseat the connector several times.
- Test the sensor (if you have a multimeter): Disconnect the NTC from the board and measure resistance. At ~25°C (77°F), many Midea NTCs read around 10kΩ (check service manual if available). If it reads open (OL) or near 0Ω, the sensor is bad.
- Replace the sensor if faulty: Order a compatible "Midea ambient temperature sensor" or "Midea NTC sensor" for your model. Clip the new sensor in the same location and route wires as original, then reconnect to the PCB.
- If sensor tests good: The temperature input circuit on the main PCB may be defective. Inspect the board for burn marks or corrosion. If present, replace the main control board.
