Safety: Unplug the unit before opening the cabinet. Edges of the metal chassis and evaporator fins are sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.

• Remove front cover: Take out screws and gently pull off the front or side panel to expose the evaporator coil (cold coil).
• Locate the pipe sensor: On Midea units, the evaporator sensor is usually clipped or taped to the evaporator tubing or fins with a small metal or plastic clip and two wires leading to the PCB.
• Check sensor placement: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil. If it has fallen off, reattach it securely using the original clip or aluminum tape so it makes good thermal contact.
• Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the control board. Look for cuts, pinches, or loose connectors. Reseat the connector on the PCB.
• Test the sensor: With the sensor unplugged, measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the ambient temperature NTC value (often similar spec). If reading is open or shorted, replace the sensor.
• Replace sensor if needed: Purchase a "Midea evaporator temperature sensor" or "pipe sensor" for your exact model. Install in the same location and route wires away from the fan and sharp edges.
• If sensor is OK: The main PCB may misread the sensor. Inspect for damage and replace the control board if necessary.
