Possible Causes

Loose or damaged communication harness between UI and main PCB, Corroded connectors at control boards, Faulty display/control panel PCB, Failed main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing control panels. Avoid flexing the circuit boards.

  • Access control panel: Remove the top or front bezel to expose the user interface (UI) board and its ribbon cable or harness.
  • Inspect harness: Follow the cable from the UI board to the main control board. Look for pinched, cut, or abraded sections. Ensure the cable is not pulled tight.
  • Reseat connectors: Disconnect the harness at both boards, inspect pins for corrosion or bending, then reconnect firmly. Make sure locking tabs engage.
  • Check for moisture damage: Look for signs of condensation or water intrusion on the UI and main boards. If present, dry thoroughly and consider relocating the unit to a less humid location.
  • Test operation: Reassemble enough to power on. If E6 clears, the issue was likely a poor connection.
  • Board substitution: If E6 persists, one of the boards is likely faulty. Start by replacing the UI board (often cheaper), then the main control board if needed. Use genuine or compatible "Midea control panel board" and "Midea main PCB" for your model.
