Possible Causes

Failed fan motor (DC or AC), Blocked fan wheel or obstructed airflow, Faulty fan motor capacitor (for AC motors), Damaged fan motor wiring or connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit. Fan blades and metal edges can be sharp; wear gloves.

  • Check for obstructions: Remove front and rear grilles as needed. Inspect the blower wheel and fan blades for debris, plastic wrap, or ice buildup. Clear any obstructions.
  • Spin test: Gently spin the fan by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. If it is stiff or seized, the motor bearings may be failing.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the fan motor wires to the main PCB. Ensure the connector is fully seated and wires are not damaged.
  • Capacitor check (AC motors): If your Midea model uses an external fan capacitor, inspect it for bulging or leakage. Replace with a capacitor of the same µF rating and voltage if suspect.
  • Power-on test (brief): With covers in place but accessible, plug in and start the unit. Observe if the fan attempts to start. If it hums but does not spin, the motor or capacitor is likely bad.
  • Replace fan motor: Order a "Midea fan motor" specific to your model (evaporator blower or condenser fan). Transfer the fan wheel to the new motor if required, and reinstall in the same orientation.
  • Retest: After replacement, clear any remaining E7 by unplugging for 5 minutes, then restart.
