Possible Causes
Low room temperature causing coil icing, Restricted airflow across evaporator, Faulty defrost sensor or control logic, Unit placed in very cold basement or garage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: On many Midea dehumidifiers, P1 is not a fault but an indication that the unit is in defrost mode.
- Allow defrost cycle: Leave the unit plugged in and powered on. The compressor will stop while the fan may continue to run to melt ice from the coil. This can take 10–30 minutes.
- Check room temperature: If the room is below ~41–50°F (5–10°C), move the dehumidifier to a warmer area. These units are not designed for very cold environments.
- Improve airflow: Clean the air filter and ensure intake and exhaust are not blocked. Poor airflow can cause icing and frequent P1 cycles.
- Inspect evaporator for heavy ice: If the coil is completely iced over, unplug the unit and allow it to thaw fully. Then restart and monitor.
- If P1 is constant: If the unit never exits P1 even in a warm room, the defrost sensor or control board may be faulty. See sensor-related entries for replacement guidance.
