Possible Causes
Internal condensate pump failure, Blocked pump discharge hose, Kinked or elevated drain hose beyond pump capacity, Faulty pump float switch or pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Water and electricity are a dangerous combination; keep connections dry.
- Check drain hose: Ensure the pump discharge hose is not kinked, clogged, or routed higher than the maximum lift height specified in the manual. Shorten or reroute if necessary.
- Inspect pump reservoir: Remove the bucket and locate the internal pump reservoir (if accessible). Clean out any slime, mold, or debris that could block the pump inlet.
- Test pump function: Some Midea models have a pump test button. With the unit plugged in and water in the reservoir, press the test button and listen for pump operation. If silent, the pump may be failed.
- Check pump float switch: Locate the float that triggers the pump. Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck. Clean and re-seat if needed.
- Replace pump assembly: If the pump does not run or P4 persists, replace the "Midea internal condensate pump assembly" for your model. Transfer hoses and wiring as originally installed.
- Alternative: If you do not need the pump, you can often bypass it by using the gravity drain port directly to a floor drain, following the user manual instructions.
